A simple way to start
- Set one learning and one connection outcome, choose an audience-appropriate mix of rounds and decide that speed, alcohol purchases and long club tenure will not determine success. Who could lead it: Quiz producer and membership lead
- Draft questions from official Rotary, club and reliable community records, separate fact from local recollection and reject personal or disputed content. Who could lead it: Question writers
- Have a second person verify every answer, date-sensitive fact, pronunciation and image or music right, then record acceptable alternatives and correction wording. Who could lead it: Independent fact checker
- Pilot the quiz with people of different Rotary experience and access needs, revise insider language and pacing, and publish accurate cost, access, food, transport and photo information. Who could lead it: Access tester and event lead
- Form mixed teams without labelling expertise, provide questions in accessible formats, explain the learning after each round, accept challenges respectfully and keep the scoreboard secondary. Who could lead it: Quiz host and scorekeeper
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Rotary Trivia Night. Look for repeat participation, new connections across existing groups and members choosing to organise the next activity together.
- Questions with a named source, verifier, acceptable alternatives and explanation before use.
- Newer members and guests contributing across rounds and reporting at least one useful new connection or Rotary insight.
- Question presentation, pacing and team design tested across relevant access and language needs.
- Challenges, factual corrections, privacy concerns and inaccessible items logged and resolved in the master question bank.
