Alumni Service Day
Former members renew relationships and some move into ongoing participation.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It turns member energy into visible, organised action that is easier for other people to join.
It may suit: Former or less-connected members, and the club members reaching out to them.
A simple way to start
- Confirm the community need and partner authority, then define the exact task, useful outcome, participant limit, exclusions and closeout evidence. Who could lead it: Partner lead and club project sponsor
- Assess task and site risks, screening, safeguarding, supervision, access, equipment, weather, transport, food, insurance conditions and stop authority. Who could lead it: Safety, safeguarding and access leads
- Publish complete role conditions and invite through authorised channels with equal non-alumni places where appropriate and no membership, hours or publicity pressure. Who could lead it: Volunteer coordinator
- Confirm each person's task, adjustment, screening, supervision, contact, media and emergency information and provide the briefing in an accessible format before arrival. Who could lead it: Volunteer coordinator and task supervisors
- Run partner-led tasks within approved limits, record incidents and changes, provide breaks and equivalent roles and stop work whenever conditions exceed the plan. Who could lead it: Partner task lead and club safety lead
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Alumni Service Day. Look for respectful reconnections made with consent, chosen next steps and follow-up that honours people who decline further contact.
- Partner-confirmed useful tasks completed within approved scope, quality and participant limits.
- All volunteers receiving complete conditions, adjustments and safety briefing before work.
- Incidents, changes, complaints and stop decisions recorded and resolved through the agreed process.
- No alumni ranking, membership pressure or unapproved media use, and personal data closed by the due date.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
