Journalist Roundtables

Listen to local journalists together about coverage gaps, audience needs and access barriers without turning the session into a collective pitch.

What could this idea change?

Community organisations learn how to supply more relevant, accurate information while journalists retain independence and source diversity.

A simple way to start

  1. Interview a few journalists to shape a useful, non-promotional agenda. Who could lead it: Roundtable convenor
  2. Invite participants with purpose, attribution and hospitality clearly stated. Who could lead it: Media liaison
  3. Open with Rotary listening commitments and matters outside scope. Who could lead it: Club chair
  4. Facilitate newsroom needs, community gaps and practical improvements. Who could lead it: Independent facilitator
  5. Return a de-identified action summary for participant correction. Who could lead it: Rapporteur

What should we look for?

  • Invitees represent different local media audiences and formats.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
