Member Values Reflection Session
Use Member Values Reflection Session to help members renew their sense of purpose and choose a meaningful next contribution.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It creates a welcoming reason for people to connect around a shared interest and leave with a clear next step.
It may suit: Members, guests or community participants who would find the topic useful, and the people hosting the activity.
A simple way to start
- Write a decision brief for Member Values Reflection Session: define which behaviour or decision needs to change to reflect shared values, the evidence already held, people affected, local authority, fixed constraints, success signals and stop conditions. Who could lead it: Member-experience lead and club president
- Invite voluntary reflection in more than one format, explain that sharing is optional, and let each member choose what remains private, what may be discussed and what action they want. Who could lead it: Member-experience lead and club president with the access and privacy contacts
- Build and test a facilitated values reflection using scenarios rather than personality labels; use the Values-in-Practice Scenario Cards, rehearse the boundary wording, check materials and confirm who can decide, refer, pause or close the activity. Who could lead it: Trained conversation host
- Use quiet reflection before conversation, keep interpretation with the member, offer a pause or exit, and connect any chosen action to a real club opportunity rather than a vague promise. Capture only the evidence needed to judge whether the trial achieved its stated aim: help members examine how club choices align with stated values. Who could lead it: Trained conversation host
- Analyse the evidence against the starting point, validate meaning with the people involved, record exceptions and unintended effects, and prepare a values-to-practice action note without overstating what the trial proves. Who could lead it: Trained conversation host and an independent reviewer
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Member Values Reflection Session. Look for members choosing a renewed contribution, receiving the support they requested and reviewing whether it remains meaningful.
- Member Values Reflection Session produces a values-to-practice action note by the promised decision date, with evidence limitations and any participation gaps stated.
- Members can name a meaningful next step, a deliberate pause or no change without pressure or penalty.
- Every accepted next step has a realistic owner, workload, support and review date.
- Sensitive disclosures, attendance judgements and unsupported promises stay outside the reflection record.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
