Digital Member Welcome Wall

Use Digital Member Welcome Wall to give new members a clear first 90 days, early relationships and a useful way to contribute.

What could this idea change?

A consistent welcome helps people build relationships sooner and understand how they can take part.

It may suit: New and prospective members, and the club members helping them settle in.

A simple way to start

  1. Define whether the wall is member-only, public or split into two versions; record the purpose, exact audience, permitted fields, hosting service, display period and deletion process. Who could lead it: Club board sponsor and digital lead
  2. Create an accessible card with a text heading, optional photo and alternative text, preferred name and pronunciation, why the member joined, two interests and one conversation invitation; make every field optional. Who could lead it: Digital content editor
  3. Show the new member a preview, explain exactly who can see it and for how long, offer a text-only or no-post choice, and record specific consent without bundling it into general membership paperwork. Who could lead it: Onboarding coordinator
  4. Publish within the agreed channel, check keyboard and screen-reader access, restrict commenting where it cannot be moderated and provide the member with the direct correction or removal contact. Who could lead it: Digital lead
  5. Ask two established members with relevant interests to make a genuine introduction or invitation; do not count likes, reactions or views as evidence of belonging. Who could lead it: Member's welcome contact

What should we look for?

  • After 90 days, review Digital Member Welcome Wall. Look for agreed early steps being completed, at least one useful club connection and every promised follow-up being delivered.
  • Proportion of featured members who gave specific opt-in after viewing the exact card and audience.
  • Cards published with complete text alternatives, expiry dates and working correction or removal routes.
  • New members receiving at least two relevant personal introductions or invitations within seven days of publication.
  • Corrections, removals, access issues and moderation reports resolved within the promised response time.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
