Rotary Orientation Workshop

New members understand Rotary, the club and immediate ways to participate.

What could this idea change?

A consistent welcome helps people build relationships sooner and understand how they can take part.

It may suit: New and prospective members, and the club members helping them settle in.

A simple way to start

  1. Ask participants what they most want to understand and what still feels unclear, then use the responses to select four outcomes and remove low-priority content. Who could lead it: Learning facilitator
  2. Build a source-checked session around four stations: why Rotary exists, how this club works, what members can explore beyond the club and how to choose a first contribution. Who could lead it: Content curator
  3. Use one real local project or decision as a case, confirm permission for any story or image and prepare a choice of individual, pair and whole-group activities. Who could lead it: Facilitator and project contributor
  4. Run a 75-minute workshop with a short opening map, participant questions, the four active stations, a break or pause option and a visible parking list for answers that require checking. Who could lead it: Learning facilitator
  5. Invite each participant to choose one next step, one person they want to meet and one question for follow-up; make the introduction before the session closes where possible. Who could lead it: Onboarding coordinator

What should we look for?

  • After 90 days, review Rotary Orientation Workshop. Look for agreed early steps being completed, at least one useful club connection and every promised follow-up being delivered.
  • Participants who can accurately describe Rotary purpose, the local club's role and one wider opportunity in a short end-of-session check.
  • Participants leaving with one chosen next step and one named contact rather than an assigned role.
  • Parked questions answered from a verified source within seven days.
  • Chosen next steps begun within 30 days and workshop changes made from participant feedback.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
