Connection Bingo Game
Use Connection Bingo Game to create genuine friendships and informal connections beyond the formal meeting agenda.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It helps more people feel known, valued and able to take part in ways that work for them.
It may suit: Members at the relevant stage of their club experience, including people who may not yet feel fully connected.
A simple way to start
- Choose a connection outcome and draft prompts about low-stakes interests, Rotary experiences and hopes that can be answered briefly or passed without explanation. Who could lead it: Activity designer
- Test every prompt with members of different tenures, cultures, ages, access needs and club roles, removing questions that invite assumptions, status or sensitive disclosure. Who could lead it: Member-experience and access reviewers
- Prepare accessible card formats, a short host script, a seated pairing option, a quiet route and a no-card participation choice. Who could lead it: Access lead and host
- Explain that the purpose is conversation, not completion, and demonstrate how to ask, pass, correct, end a conversation and leave a square blank. Who could lead it: Host
- Host in short rounds, introduce people who want help, prevent crowding and intrusive follow-up, and use reflection pauses instead of calling winners. Who could lead it: Host and floor supporters
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Connection Bingo Game. Look for repeat participation, new connections across existing groups and members choosing to organise the next activity together.
- Members reporting several comfortable conversations, including at least one outside their usual group.
- Printed, spoken, seated, paired and no-card routes available without requiring disclosure of an access need.
- No names, personal answers, rankings or completed-card images collected by the club.
- Prompts causing discomfort, ambiguity or exclusion identified and removed before any repeat.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
