Intergenerational Leadership Workshop
Use Intergenerational Leadership Workshop to keep participation realistic as members move through different work, family, health and life stages.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It makes follow-up more caring and consistent, while leaving people in control of how they respond.
It may suit: Members who may welcome support or renewed contact, and the trusted club members following up.
A simple way to start
- Identify two or three real club leadership situations and define the behaviours and decision the workshop should help improve. Who could lead it: Workshop lead and club board sponsor
- Build anonymised scenarios and invite a varied participant group without asking anyone to represent an age cohort. Who could lead it: Facilitator and access lead
- Brief participants on the no-stereotype, no-assessment and confidentiality boundaries and offer spoken, written, observer and small-group roles. Who could lead it: Facilitator
- Run each scenario twice using different shared-leadership behaviours, then compare who had information, voice, authority, support and follow-up. Who could lead it: Facilitator and scenario teams
- Choose a small number of club practices to test, name owners, resources, safeguards and evidence and let participants decline future roles. Who could lead it: Club board sponsor and participants
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Intergenerational Leadership Workshop. Look for members choosing workable forms of participation and staying connected without pressure to disclose private circumstances.
- Participants across roles and life stages contributing without generational representation or ranking.
- Club-specific behaviours selected with owners, support, safeguards and review dates.
- Trials showing broader access to information, voice, practice and supported authority.
- Appointment and performance processes kept separate and individual workshop notes deleted.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
