Service Anniversary Tributes
Use Service Anniversary Tributes to make recognition timely, genuine and fair across visible and behind-the-scenes contributions.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It makes a wider range of contributions visible and strengthens the club's culture of appreciation.
It may suit: Members and volunteers whose contributions may be recognised, and the people nominating or celebrating them.
A simple way to start
- Apply the approved anniversary rule and identify possible milestones privately without announcing or assuming the date is correct. Who could lead it: Membership records contact
- Ask the member whether and how they want the anniversary acknowledged and invite corrections to the date and service period. Who could lead it: Recognition contact
- Verify dates, roles, projects and claims through authorised records and people and mark uncertain material as memory or omit it. Who could lead it: Tribute researcher
- Draft a concise tribute that recognises contribution and relationships without ranking tenure, and obtain member and third-party edits and permissions. Who could lead it: Recognition and communications leads
- Deliver the tribute in the member's chosen format with accessible participation and no unapproved surprise speech, image or gift. Who could lead it: Meeting or event lead
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Service Anniversary Tributes. Look for a wider range of contributions being recognised, with consent, and for recipients reporting that the recognition felt appropriate.
- Anniversary dates and service periods privately confirmed by members.
- Tribute facts and assets carrying a source and permission status.
- Members choosing format, wording, image, gift and publication channels.
- Corrections completed and research notes and unused assets deleted.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
