Fun Awards Night

Use Fun Awards Night to make recognition timely, genuine and fair across visible and behind-the-scenes contributions.

What could this idea change?

It makes a wider range of contributions visible and strengthens the club's culture of appreciation.

It may suit: Members and volunteers whose contributions may be recognised, and the people nominating or celebrating them.

A simple way to start

  1. Approve the event purpose, category exclusions, consent standard, nomination method, media boundary and complaint route. Who could lead it: Event lead and club board sponsor
  2. Invite category ideas and screen them before nominations, favouring shared moments, teams, positive habits and member-approved strengths. Who could lead it: Category review group
  3. Review nominations without public voting, verify the example and test for conflict, repetition, stereotypes, privacy and likely impact. Who could lead it: Category review group
  4. Ask each proposed recipient privately to approve, edit, convert to team or private recognition or decline the exact category and presentation. Who could lead it: Consent contact
  5. Brief presenters, run an accessible event, stop unscripted harmful humour and follow each person's photography and recording choices. Who could lead it: Host, access and media leads

What should we look for?

  • After 90 days, review Fun Awards Night. Look for a wider range of contributions being recognised, with consent, and for recipients reporting that the recognition felt appropriate.
  • All categories passing the dignity, privacy and protected-trait screen before nominations.
  • Every named recipient privately approving the exact category and presentation or choosing an alternative.
  • Accessible participation and media choices followed during the event.
  • Concerns resolved and rejected nominations, unused images and consent notes deleted.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
