Member Spotlight Stories

Use Member Spotlight Stories to make recognition timely, genuine and fair across visible and behind-the-scenes contributions.

What could this idea change?

It makes a wider range of contributions visible and strengthens the club's culture of appreciation.

It may suit: Members and volunteers whose contributions may be recognised, and the people nominating or celebrating them.

A simple way to start

  1. Approve the story purpose, audiences, formats, topic boundaries, accessibility, expiry and withdrawal process. Who could lead it: Editorial lead and club board sponsor
  2. Invite members voluntarily and let each person choose topic, format, interviewer, name, image, audience and no-participation option. Who could lead it: Story contact
  3. Collect only the chosen material, avoid probing and verify Rotary, partner, role and impact claims with authorised sources. Who could lead it: Writer or interviewer
  4. Provide an accessible review copy and obtain approval for exact wording, assets, credits, channels, date, expiry and later use. Who could lead it: Editor and member
  5. Publish only to approved channels with accessible alternatives, a correction contact and no automatic cross-posting. Who could lead it: Communications lead

What should we look for?

  • After 90 days, review Member Spotlight Stories. Look for a wider range of contributions being recognised, with consent, and for recipients reporting that the recognition felt appropriate.
  • Members choosing topic, format, details, channels and expiry without pressure.
  • Claims and third-party details verified or removed before publication.
  • Accessible alternatives available for audio, video and images.
  • Corrections and withdrawals completed across all channels and expired assets deleted.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
