It gives the club a clearer view of people's experiences before decisions are made, including feedback that informal conversations can miss.

A simple way to start

1. Write a decision brief for Member Ideas Showcase: define which ideas should be explored, combined, referred or closed, the evidence already held, people affected, local authority, fixed constraints, success signals and stop conditions. Who could lead it: Board sponsor and member-experience lead
2. Invite a varied participant mix, offer a private and non-digital route, explain what is open or fixed and ask about access requirements without collecting unnecessary personal information. Who could lead it: Board sponsor and member-experience lead with the access and privacy contacts
3. Build and test a curated showcase where members explain ideas through equal-format displays; use the Ideas Showcase Display Template, rehearse the boundary wording, check materials and confirm who can decide, refer, pause or close the activity. Who could lead it: Independent facilitator and evidence custodian
4. Facilitate the activity using equal contribution opportunities, a neutral chair, a separate route for sensitive matters and an agreed record of minority as well as majority views. Capture only the evidence needed to judge whether the trial achieved its stated aim: make emerging ideas visible and connect them with collaborators and decision pathways. 5. Analyse the evidence against the starting point, validate meaning with the people involved, record exceptions and unintended effects, and prepare an idea portfolio with next-step decisions for every exhibitor without overstating what the trial proves. What should we look for?

• After 90 days, review Member Ideas Showcase. Look for representative participation, published themes, named actions and a report back on what changed, what did not and why.
• Member Ideas Showcase produces an idea portfolio with next-step decisions for every exhibitor by the promised decision date, with evidence limitations and any participation gaps stated.
• The intended range of member or volunteer experiences is represented, with participation gaps recorded rather than hidden.
• Every accepted, declined or deferred idea receives a reason, owner and response date.
• Private matters, identifying detail and misleading claims of confidentiality remain outside published findings.
