A simple way to start

  1. Consult journalists and community representatives on fair award purpose. Who could lead it: Awards design lead
  2. Publish criteria focused on accuracy, public value, originality and ethics. Who could lead it: Governance secretary
  3. Receive and screen entries without judging newsroom viewpoint. Who could lead it: Awards administrator
  4. Run blinded or otherwise independent scoring and conflict recusals. Who could lead it: Judging chair
  5. Announce decisions with reasons and no expectation of future coverage. Who could lead it: Club president

What should we look for?

  • Eligible entries span multiple outlets or community audiences.

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
