Rotary Documentary Project
Produces a researched short documentary that follows one substantial service story with enough depth to show context, collaboration, results and unresolved work.
What could this idea change?
Creates a durable public resource that honours participant agency and records project learning beyond a promotional highlights reel.
A simple way to start
- Research the project and create a treatment that states the central question, evidence, gaps and ethical boundaries. Who could lead it: Executive Producer
- Contract or appoint the production team and complete budget, insurance, safety, location and rights planning. Who could lead it: Production Manager
- Film contributors and project activity under the approved schedule without directing unsafe or inauthentic scenes. Who could lead it: Director
- Edit a balanced cut, verify every material claim and complete contributor, partner, legal-rights and accessibility review. Who could lead it: Post-Production Lead
- Release through approved screenings and channels, manage discussion and evaluate whether the film serves its stated purpose. Who could lead it: Distribution and Impact Lead
What should we look for?
- Production milestones completed within approved scope
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
