Youth Civic Leadership Forum
Lets young people question decision-makers and shape a bounded local action agenda, with adults accountable for responding rather than merely listening ceremonially.
What could this idea change?
Local decisions gain youth evidence and participants see where influence is real, limited or still contested.
A simple way to start
- Recruit a diverse youth reference group and pay or recognise substantial co-design work. Who could lead it: Forum producer
- Translate the issue into neutral briefing material and test it for readability. Who could lead it: Research lead
- Brief adult speakers on response standards, power dynamics and prohibited campaigning. Who could lead it: Independent facilitator
- Run small-group deliberation, anonymous questions and a public commitment round. Who could lead it: Facilitation team
- Publish a de-identified outcomes note with named adult owners and dates. Who could lead it: Accountability lead
What should we look for?
- Participant diversity against the intended community.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
