Youth Volunteering Programs
Offers repeatable, age-appropriate service shifts with clear purpose and progression, so young volunteers contribute safely without being used as free labour.
What could this idea change?
Community partners gain reliable help while young people build confidence, skills and a record of meaningful contribution.
A simple way to start
- Build a task bank with partner-defined outcomes and prohibited activities. Who could lead it: Volunteer coordinator
- Publish accurate role cards showing skills, access, clothing and time commitment. Who could lead it: Communications lead
- Register participants through approved channels and allocate screened supervisors. Who could lead it: Safeguarding lead
- Induct, supervise and check welfare during each shift. Who could lead it: Shift supervisor
- Verify hours, gather feedback and offer an optional next-level role. Who could lead it: Volunteer coordinator
What should we look for?
- Safe shifts completed and community output delivered.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
