What could this idea change?

Students gain reliable adult perspective and practical networks while the school retains duty-of-care oversight.

Could this work in our club?

  • Students referred by a school for career, study, leadership or project mentoring; school coordinators and screened mentors. Use when the school has defined the mentoring purpose and referral criteria.

Before you start

  • Written program agreement covering selection, matching, contact, records and complaints.
  • Current child-related screening for the relevant state or territory and mentoring-specific induction.
  • Student goals, consent and access needs recorded by the school, not the mentor personally.

At the end: The school coordinator checks each match after sessions one and three; close with a documented handover and delete mentor-held notes immediately.

Before your club says yes

Does the idea fit?

Talk with the people it is meant to serve and check that the need is real.

Who can say yes?

Name the person or group that can approve the work, spending and any safety arrangements.

Are people protected?

Check privacy, consent and safety. Collect only the information you genuinely need.

Can everyone take part?

Check the language, format, place, technology and cost for barriers.

Are the facts and permissions right?

Check names, claims, images, quotations, partner references and Rotary branding.

How will we learn?

Note where things stand now, check in at 30, 60 and 90 days, and decide what to do next.
