Professional Advice Clinics
Use Professional Advice Clinics to make mentoring and personal development easier to find, choose and sustain.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It helps knowledge, confidence and encouragement move between members instead of resting with a few people.
It may suit: Members seeking guidance or a new challenge, and the people offering practical support.
A simple way to start
- Define the member need without collecting personal cases, decide whether an official public resource or external service already meets it and stop if a club-hosted session would create disproportionate risk. Who could lead it: Club governance lead
- Set the exact topic and jurisdiction, list what the session may and may not cover and obtain independent governance review appropriate to the professional area. Who could lead it: Governance lead with external advice where required
- Verify the proposed presenter's current credentials, authorisation, scope, restrictions, insurance and conflicts using the relevant official register and written evidence—not biography, club membership or reputation. Who could lead it: Credential-check delegate
- Issue the participant notice in advance, collect only access needs and general topic questions, reject personal case material and provide official help routes for anyone needing individual support. Who could lead it: Clinic coordinator
- Open with the scope and non-endorsement statement, keep questions general, stop personal advice or promotion immediately and give participants the referral sheet rather than exchanging client details. Who could lead it: Independent host and presenter
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Professional Advice Clinics. Look for suitable matches, regular check-ins and progress against goals chosen by the participating member.
- Provider checks completed from the relevant current official register and evidence source both before engagement and immediately before delivery.
- Questions kept within the approved general-information scope, with personal matters redirected rather than answered in the room.
- Zero sales contacts, client leads, product promotions, endorsements or participant details transferred through the club.
- Complaints, incidents, boundary interventions and privacy concerns reviewed and closed by the authorised governance body.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
