Rotary Reunion Event
Use Rotary Reunion Event to offer former members a respectful way to reconnect without assuming that they want to rejoin.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It creates a welcoming reason for people to connect around a shared interest and leave with a clear next step.
It may suit: Former or less-connected members, and the club members reaching out to them.
A simple way to start
- Agree why the reunion is being held, who it is for, what it will not be used to do and which unresolved issues or exclusions require separate handling. Who could lead it: Event lead and club board sponsor
- Review every proposed contact route, remove stale or unauthorised details and invite privately with clear choices about attendance, access, photographs and future contact. Who could lead it: Authorised alumni contact
- Design a short, accessible programme around welcome, conversation and shared memories, with no public rollcall, surprise speaking, recruitment pitch or donor recognition. Who could lead it: Event and accessibility leads
- Brief hosts on names, introductions, privacy, photography, difficult conversations, complaint transfer, emergency arrangements and how to respond when someone wants no further contact. Who could lead it: Event lead
- Welcome each guest on their chosen terms, state the event boundaries, provide several ways to take part and address access, conduct or privacy concerns promptly and discreetly. Who could lead it: Hosts and event lead
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review Rotary Reunion Event. Look for respectful reconnections made with consent, chosen next steps and follow-up that honours people who decline further contact.
- Invitations sent only through current authorised routes, with exclusions and no-contact choices applied before contact.
- Guests able to choose attendance, access, photographs, public acknowledgement and future contact without pressure.
- Former and current participants reporting that the event felt welcoming and did not become recruitment, fundraising or an inquiry into departure.
- Concerns transferred appropriately and all temporary attendance, access and image information closed by the agreed date.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
