What could this idea change?

People can connect around a small local purpose, participate without disclosing details and choose whether the relationship continues.

Could this work in our club?

  • Residents of one defined neighbourhood who are more likely to engage in an informal local setting. Use when the audience is genuinely neighbourhood-based and the selected site is familiar and authorised. Confirm that the Community BBQ food-led module mode fits the local setting before adapting it.

Before you start

  • Site authority, capacity, local need statement, weather threshold and site handback agreement.
  • Roster, induction, equipment, waste, first aid, emergency and safeguarding arrangements.
  • Accessible seating or participation, communication route and any required practical adjustments.
  • When CP-05 applies: food sourcing, allergens, temperature control, handwashing, fire/fuel, serving and cleaning evidence.

At the end: Close resident actions within the stated window, share any agreed local update through the same trusted routes, thank the site owner, complete incident and waste records, and repeat only if demand, capacity and improvement evidence justify a series.

Before your club says yes

Does the idea fit?

Talk with the people it is meant to serve and check that the need is real.

Who can say yes?

Name the person or group that can approve the work, spending and any safety arrangements.

Are people protected?

Check privacy, consent and safety. Collect only the information you genuinely need.

Can everyone take part?

Check the language, format, place, technology and cost for barriers.

Are the facts and permissions right?

Check names, claims, images, quotations, partner references and Rotary branding.

How will we learn?

Note where things stand now, check in at 30, 60 and 90 days, and decide what to do next.
