Rotary Volunteer Week

Creates a concentrated week in which people can sample well-designed volunteer roles across several causes, with common safety standards and a visible route to continue serving.

What could this idea change?

Local organisations receive prepared help while participants can compare service options and continue with the cause that fits them best.

A simple way to start

  1. Audit host tasks and remove roles that substitute for paid work or lack safe supervision. Who could lead it: Volunteer Week Director
  2. Publish comparable role cards and let applicants rank genuine preferences and access needs. Who could lead it: Matching Coordinator
  3. Complete screening, host confirmation, roster, induction and contingency planning. Who could lead it: Safety and Operations Lead
  4. Deliver each shift with attendance, briefings, task boundaries and incident logging. Who could lead it: Site Supervisors
  5. Verify useful outputs and offer each participant an appropriate continuing service route. Who could lead it: Retention Lead

What should we look for?

  • Safely completed volunteer shifts

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
