Project Reverse Pitch Night

Use Project Reverse Pitch Night to connect members' strengths and interests with worthwhile roles that have clear boundaries.

What could this idea change?

It creates a welcoming reason for people to connect around a shared interest and leave with a clear next step.

It may suit: Members, guests or community participants who would find the topic useful, and the people hosting the activity.

A simple way to start

  1. Confirm which projects and roles are approved or decision-ready, remove those with unresolved authority or safety conditions and identify a small first step for each remaining opportunity. Who could lead it: Club board delegate and project leads
  2. Complete and peer-check one role pitch per opportunity covering community purpose, actual tasks, time, term, location, support, authority, access, costs and conditions. Who could lead it: Project leads and member-experience lead
  3. Publish the session promise, opportunity summaries, access choices and private expression-of-interest route, making clear that attendance and interest create no obligation. Who could lead it: Session host and access contact
  4. Run tightly timed pitches, provide equal access to questions and direct members to private comparison and interest forms rather than taking public commitments. Who could lead it: Independent host and timekeeper
  5. Hold role-specific conversations that test mutual fit, explain conditions, arrange adjustments and agree a bounded trial or another response without treating interest as proven suitability. Who could lead it: Project lead and relevant role approver

What should we look for?

  • After 90 days, review Project Reverse Pitch Night. Look for roles being filled by choice, responsibilities being understood and useful work being completed without avoidable overload.
  • Eligible roles published with complete purpose, task, time, authority, access, safety and support information.
  • Expressions of interest acknowledged and closed within the published response period.
  • Members entering a bounded trial only after a private fit conversation and any required approval or screening.
  • Roles redesigned, deferred or withdrawn when the session exposes unclear value, excessive workload or unresolved conditions.

Before we say yes

  • Does it fit a real local need?
  • Can people take part safely and fairly?
  • Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
  • Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
