One-Role-This-Year Campaign
Use One-Role-This-Year Campaign to connect members' strengths and interests with worthwhile roles that have clear boundaries.
Developed further: this summary now draws on an initiative-specific internal editorial draft and attributed references. Human review has not started and will open only at the Full-Corpus Review Build.
What could this idea change?
It turns member energy into visible, organised action that is easier for other people to join.
It may suit: Members and community volunteers who may take part, plus the people organising the work.
A simple way to start
- Audit existing work, identify overload and duplication and redesign the year's contribution options into bounded roles with clear outcomes and realistic effort. Who could lead it: Club board and role sponsors
- Check approval, eligibility, safety, access and support conditions for every role and create a small trial or shared option where practical. Who could lead it: Role sponsors and governance lead
- Explain the voluntary invitation, private choices and no-disadvantage boundary and give members time to compare roles or request a conversation. Who could lead it: Member-experience lead
- Hold one-to-one role conversations, confirm mutual fit and conditions and record a start, review or later-contact decision without collecting reasons for a decline. Who could lead it: Role sponsors
- Induct each participant, provide authority and resources and hold short check-ins that test workload, support, access and continued willingness. Who could lead it: Role sponsor and participant
What should we look for?
- After 90 days, review One-Role-This-Year Campaign. Look for roles being filled by choice, responsibilities being understood and useful work being completed without avoidable overload.
- Role menu entries with clear purpose, workload, term, authority, access and support.
- Participants receiving induction and scheduled workload and support check-ins.
- Roles shared, reduced, deferred or retired when they remain unfilled or become unreasonable.
- No public participation ranking, required explanation for declining or adverse effect on member standing.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
