What could this idea change?

Service is recognised fairly and accurately without exploiting personal stories, pressuring nominees or converting popularity into merit.

Could this work in our club?

  • Eligible nominators and local people or groups whose contribution can be assessed against published criteria. Use when the award has a defined public purpose, achievement period, eligibility rule and no-award option.

Before you start

  • Panel appointment, confidentiality, quorum, reserve, recusal, replacement and moderation protocol.
  • Secure intake, eligibility, referee, verification, scoring, decision and retention controls.
  • Process-concern, factual-correction, privacy, safeguarding and accessible-contact routes.
  • Recognition copy, certificates, event and media materials held until authorised decision and recipient permissions.

At the end: Thank nominees and nominators through the approved route, complete recipient choices, correct public errors promptly, secure or dispose of case records on schedule and publish only aggregate process learning that cannot expose nominees.

Before your club says yes

Does the idea fit?

Talk with the people it is meant to serve and check that the need is real.

Who can say yes?

Name the person or group that can approve the work, spending and any safety arrangements.

Are people protected?

Check privacy, consent and safety. Collect only the information you genuinely need.

Can everyone take part?

Check the language, format, place, technology and cost for barriers.

Are the facts and permissions right?

Check names, claims, images, quotations, partner references and Rotary branding.

How will we learn?

Note where things stand now, check in at 30, 60 and 90 days, and decide what to do next.
