Student Innovation Challenge
Gives student teams a fair, supported way to prototype solutions to a local problem, valuing learning and evidence over polished pitching.
What could this idea change?
Community organisations receive fresh, testable ideas while students practice ethical problem-solving and collaboration.
A simple way to start
- Co-write the challenge brief with affected people and define out-of-scope areas. Who could lead it: Challenge owner
- Open equitable team registration through participating institutions. Who could lead it: Education liaison
- Run a problem-framing clinic and assign conflict-free mentors. Who could lead it: Learning lead
- Hold a safe prototype test and evidence-based showcase. Who could lead it: Technical lead
- Judge transparently, return feedback and agree any next-stage rights in writing. Who could lead it: Panel chair
What should we look for?
- Eligible teams completing a tested prototype.
Before we say yes
- Does it fit a real local need?
- Can people take part safely and fairly?
- Are the facts, permissions and Rotary branding right?
- Who will lead it, and when will we review it?
