Friends of Rotary gives clubs a governed way to offer people permissioned participation in projects, events and community connection when club membership is not the right fit now.
Participation is not membership. The pathway should be a high-quality experience in its own right—not a disguised prospect list, an informal member category or a route around club governance.

Name the community need, the people the pathway is for and what a good first 90 days should make possible.

Agree participation, safeguarding, insurance, expenses, brand, data and decision rights before inviting anyone.

Offer a clear contact, accessible ways to take part, meaningful service and a welcome that does not imitate full membership.

Use plain language, a consent-aware follow-up and the public Join Rotary pathway for participant enquiries.

Connect each Friend with a person, a safe first experience and a clear way to ask questions or step back.

Minimum safeguards
Before the first invitation leaves the club.
- The club has approved the purpose, owner, boundaries and review date.
- Friends are told plainly what the pathway is—and what it is not.
- Only necessary contact data is collected, with purpose and retention explained.
- Project screening, child safety, insurance and risk controls are confirmed locally.
- Rotary marks, public claims and photographs have the right approvals and consent.
- People can decline, pause, change their preferences or leave without friction.
